Hoy, Junio 12, el World Bank y WHO están publicando por primera vez el informe global de progreso en cobertura médica universal. Hoy también señala el comienzo del conteo regresivo de 6 meses al Día Cobertura Médica Universal 2015 – y más de 600 organizaciones ya se han inscripto.

El nuevo reporte de progreso destaca el ímpetu global para la cobertura médica universal como así también breachas inaceptables. Necesitamos su ayuda para llevar el mensaje afuera: Por favor use el toolkit abajo para recorder al mundo que aunque a medida que la cobertura médica universal prospere, la salud para todos es un derecho que demasiada gente está a la espera. Ud. puede también observar el evento de lanzamiento en vivo ahora.

Tracking universal health coverage: First global monitoring report

Today, 12 June, the World Bank and WHO are releasing the first-ever global progress report on universal health coverage. Today also marks the start of the six-month countdown to Universal Health Coverage Day 2015 – and more than 600 organizations have already signed on.

The new progress report highlights global momentum for universal health coverage as well as unacceptable gaps. We need your help to get the message out: Please use the toolkit below to remind the world that even as universal health coverage catches on, health for all is a right too many people are waiting for. Panama, June 12, 2015. After assessing the health situation and progress towards healthy food policies, tobacco and alcohol controls and promotion of physical activity, experts and representatives of major health and consumer protection organizations identified strategies for the next five years. Given the significant increase in overweight and obesity in the region, nutrition was a main focus of these conclusions.

INTERNATIONAL INNOVATION GRANT – cONQUER CANCER FOUNDATION
VENCIMIENTO JULIO 31, 2015

La International Innovation Grant provee fondos de investigación en apoyo a proyectos originales e innovadoras que puedan tener un impacto significante en el control del cáncer en países de bajos y medianos recursos.
La International Innovation Grant es una beca de investigación por un año de hasta $20,000 que es otorgada y pagada directamente a una organización sin fines de lucro o agencia gubernamental en un país de bajos y medianos recursos.  La beca puede ser usada por la organización solo por los costos aprobados, presupuestados del proyecto de investigación. Cada beca tundra un Investigador Principal que sea un miembro de ASCO, esté afiliado a la Organización Becaria, y sea residente de un país de bajos o medianos recursos. 
International Innovation Grants son becas de investigación basadas en hipótesis que financian un proyecto de investigación específico que puede resultar en el descubrimiento de un nuevo conocimiento sobre cómo avanzar en el control del cáncer en un escenario de bajos y medianos recursos.  Se anticipa que enfoques originales y diseños clínicos propuestos para esta beca pueden diferir de lo que sería considerado práctica estándar en escenarios de altos ingresos. Se espera que las Organizaciones Becarias e Investigadores Principales compartan y difundan el conocimiento obtenidos durante su proyecto de investigación.

INTERNATIONAL INNOVATION GRANT – cONQUER CANCER FOUNDATION
DEADLINE JULY 31, 2015

The International Innovation Grant provides research funding in support of novel and innovative projects that can have a significant impact on cancer control in low- and middle-income countries.
The International Innovation Grant is a one-year research grant of up to $20,000 that is awarded and paid directly to a nonprofit organization or governmental agency in a low-income or middle-income country. The grant may be used by the organization only for the approved, budgeted costs of the research project. Each grant will have a Principal Investigator who is an ASCO member, is affiliated with the Grantee Organization, and is a resident of the low-income or middle-income country. 
International Innovation Grants are hypothesis-driven research grants that fund a specific research project that may result in the discovery of new knowledge about how to advance cancer control in a low- or middle-income setting.  It is anticipated that novel approaches and clinical designs proposed for this grant may differ from what would be considered standard practice within high-income settings.  Grantee Organizations and Principal Investigators will be expected to share and disseminate the knowledge gained during their research project. 
The 2016 International Innovation Grant online Letter of Intent submission open on July 1, 2015 and Letters of Intent are due by July 31, 2015, 11:59 pm ET. Please read the 2016 Request for Proposals (RFP) for additional information and application instructions.

4° Simposio conjunto Manejo del Cáncer de Mama - Pasado, presente y Futuro

El Instituto de Cancerología Las Américas y el MD Anderson Cancer Center lo invitan a participar del 4° Simposio conjunto Manejo del Cáncer de Mama - Pasado, presente y Futuro.

El simposio contará con reconocidos conferencistas del MD Anderson Cancer Center, líderes mundiales con más de 1.400 publicaciones científicas sobre el tema, quienes desarrollarán bloques temáticos de Cáncer de Mama Triple Negativo, Cáncer de Mama Her2 Positivo, Neoadyuvancia y Manejo de Unidades de Sobrevivientes y Alto Riesgo.

Este curso de dos (2) días, será un espacio para intercambiar ideas, experiencias entre colegas y estimular la posibilidad de desarrollar proyectos colaborativos de investigación entre las diferentes unidades de Latino-América. 

Habrá un evento especial (Workshop) para patólogos dedicados a mama el día viernes en la tarde para estandarizar procesos de  interpretación de patología  y manejo de muestras para  estudios de investigación. Por eso se extiende también la invitación a los patólogos.

4th Joint Symposium Handling Breast Cancer - Past, present and Future
August 13-14, 2015 – Medellín, Colombia

The Instituto de Cancerología Las Américas and MD Anderson Cancer Center invite you to participate of the 4th Joint Symposium Handling Breast Cancer – Past, present and future.

The Symposium will have renowned speakers from MD Anderson Cancer Center, world leaders with more than 1.400 scientific publications on the subject, who will develop thematic sections of Triple Negative Breast Cancer, Her2 Positive Breast Cancer, Neoadjuvancy and Handling of Units of Survivors and High Risk.

This course of two (2) days, will be a space to exchange ideas, experiences among colleagues and stimulate the possibility of developing collaborative investigation projects between the different Latinamerican units. 

There will be a special event (Workshop) for pathologists dedicated to Breast on Friday afternoon to standardize interpretation processes of pathology and handling of samples for investigation studies.  Therefore, the invitation is also extended to pathologists.
