Cumbre de la ONU del Borrador Político de Declaración de las ENTs

La Cumbre de Alto-Nivel de la ONU sobre Enfermedades No-Trasmisibles (ENT) tuvo lugar el 19-20 de Septiembre.  Luego de meses de duras negociaciones en Nueva York, los Estados Miembros de la ONU finalmente llegaron a consenso sobre la Draft Political Declaration el 7 de Septiembre.  Pueden haber cambios menores a la Declaración durante la cumbre en Septiembre 19-20 pero debemos considerar este documento como el acuerdo escrito final que resultará de la Cumbre de la ONU sobre ENTs.

UN Summit on NCDs Draft Political Declaration

The UN High-Level Summit on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) took place on September 19-20. After months of tough negotiations in New York, UN Member States finally came to consensus on the Draft Political Declaration on 7th September. There may be minor changes to the Declaration during the Summit on 19-20th September but we should regard this document as the final written agreement that will come out of the UN Summit on NCDs.

Este 28 de Octubre de 8AM – 6PM la GTF.CCC llevará a cabo una conferencia internacional en Boston en la Harvard University. This October 28th, 2011, from 8AM – 6PM the GTF.CCC will be holding an international conference in Boston at Harvard University. The goals of the conference will be to launch the GTF.CCC report and present its findings, to develop a road-map for action on cancer care and control, and to implement report recommendations through multi-stakeholder engagement. This event will be particularly timely as it will provide follow-up strategies from the UN High-level Meeting on Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases (September 19-20, 2011). The International Development and Education Award (IDEA) will open October 1, 2011. This award specifically targets early-career oncologists from low- and middle-income countries, and offers the opportunity to attend the ASCO Annual Meeting, be paired with a mentor from the U.S. or Canada, and spend several days at the mentor’s institution. Information will soon be available at www.ConquerCancerFoundation.org/IDEA. The deadline to apply for IDEA is January 11, 2012.
